“Ten years ago I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. We were so overloaded with presents – even before she was born – that I quickly came up with the idea of doing something different with the tradition of maternity gifts. We simply did not need anything more for our baby! I was also aware that every mother in the world wants the best for her baby. Mothers in developing countries are just as looking forward to the arrival of their baby, but at the same time they worry about the baby: can they provide for the basic needs? I wanted to come up with a concept to symbolically pass on our maternity gifts to mothers and babies who really need them. Et voilà: MommaLuv was born a month before my actual delivery! ” – Mandy Ladan

About Mandy Ladan (1985)

MommaLuv’s founder and director, married to Sander and is a mom to Gioia and Vita. Thanks to a team of seven in the Netherlands and 12 abroad, what started as an idea during Mandy’s pregnancy has grown into a foundation active across Africa.

Our commitment

Every baby should have a healthy and safe start to life. Through the MommaLuv Baby Project, we have transformed the Dutch tradition of giving gifts to expectant moms into a way to provide care packages to moms-to-be who are in need. These care packages include personal care products, a mosquito net, bath supplies, and a sleeping bag.

​MommaLuv is active in: Ghana, Guinee-Bissau, Malawi, Namibië, Oeganda, Tanzania en Zuid-Afrika.
